Marc Jacobs FALL 2010 READY-TO-WEAR

I´ve read in nymag.com Marc Jacobs is to America what Miuccia Prada is to Italy, what a more accurate statement!

Marc Jacobs´ collection is always one of the most expected in NYFW, as well as his subversive declarations. Jacobs said after the show: "There's so much striving for newness now that newness feels less new", probably to defend himself against possible criticism that could brand his collection of little groundbreaking.

But what he showed at his fall collection was a vintage look full of comfortable clothing -yet feminine- for a modern woman, with sculptural tailoring and directional detail.

Although we expected no celebrities in the front row he has Vogue's Grace Coddington and weird style rookie ego-blogger-net-celebritiy Tavi Gevinson. In the front row there was more interesting people: Bergdorf Goodman's Roopal Patel, Neiman Marcus' Ann Stordahl and Ken Downing, and Saks Fifth Avenue's Ron Frasch and Stephen Sadove, who watched the show at the same time twitters did.

The stage was crafted from stapled brown paper that was removed and all the models were revealed, walking the runway to the beat of the song “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, soundtrack from “The Wizard of Oz”.
